Student basic needs and mental health are key student success conversations on campus around the country. Data from the Trellis Strategies Student Financial Wellness Survey reinforces this and shows a high prevalence of food and housing insecurity and the alarming rates of depression and anxiety in students. This, combined with the connectivity of these issues within students, underscores the urgent need for integrated action to address these issues. Allyson Cornett, Research Manager at Trellis Strategies provides an overview of the data and implications for campus practice. Dr. Carlos Cruz with Dallas College and Lisa Black with Northwest Vista College share highlights of what their campuses have done to address these issues.
